STCW Basic Safety Training course is the legal minimum requirement for anyone looking for commercial work aboard vessels, including working on Superyachts, Cruise ships and Oil Rigs. If you are planning to work on any type of marine vessel, craft or installation, it is required that you complete the 11 Day STCW 10 course.

For offshore work such as working on oil rigs, you will need to complete the 11 Day STCW 10 course which includes Medical First Aid At Sea, Marine Fire Fighting, Personal Safety, Social Responsibility and Personal Survival Techniques.

Our courses are accredited by SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) and recognised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

During the STCW course, students have the option of staying at our crew house at the V &A Waterfront, the accommodation is dormitory style. Self catering facilities are available. Accommodation costs are available on request. Transport to the STCW training facility is available at an additional cost. 

For the STCW course you will need your Passport or ID book on day one of your course. You will also need to wear old clothes for the Marine Fire Fighting (MFF) element, for the Personal Survival Techniques (PST) element you will need swimwear, a towel and a set of clothes that you can jump into a pool with.

The STCW training takes place at the Foreshore, Cape Town. Training starts promptly at 8am.
