What Does a
Superyacht Deckhand Do?
Deckhands keep the exterior of the yacht running. On any given day that can mean washing down and maintaining the vessel, handling lines when docking, driving tenders, setting up watersports and helping guests on and off the boat.
It’s physical, hands-on work in some of the most beautiful places on earth. For many crew, it’s also the first step towards bosun, mate and captain roles.
Is the Deckhand Pathway Right for You?
This pathway suits you if you:
- Love being outdoors and on the water
- Enjoy practical, physical work
- Want structure, responsibility and real skills in months, not years
- Are looking for an alternative to university, or a bolder second chapter
- Want a career that can grow with you
No previous maritime experience is needed.
If university isn’t you, and a random job feels too small, this is a practical, guided route into a world most people never get close to.
